Welcome to the World of Lauren Weir

A Bit About Lauren

Lauren is Adelaide born and raised but, as one does, has moved around a bit over the years. Sydney in NSW, Oyster Creek in Queensland, and Kilmany in Fife, Scotland. After enjoying 15 freezing cold winters (and 15 mildly warm summers) in Scotland she decided it was time to bring the tribe (including her three black Labradors) to warmer climes. Lauren pinpointed the beautiful South Coast on the Fleurieu to be their new home.

She initially set up a small studio in the side room of a café in Port Elliot and exhibited her works there for a while before moving to larger premises at Factory 9 for almost 5 years. In 2022, Lauren relocated back to the old café, but this time the space was all hers, the Lauren Weir Art Gallery & Studio, Port Elliot. Three years later, in 2025, Lauren is moving to the beautiful town of Auburn in South Australia and will continue to create wonderful works of art from her new studio there. She will be surrounded by the very things that inspire all of her works; trees, flowers, birds, insects and animals, immense skies, abundant gardens and all the beautiful wonders of nature and gentle living.

Lauren has been an artist her whole life but made time to be super mum to four wonderful houmans. Since winning her first Art Prize at the age of 7 in London in a Selfridge’s Queen’s Silver Jubilee painting competition she has continued to paint for pleasure and money. She attended Art School in Adelaide and has exhibited at numerous venues and galleries since leaving in the mid-nineties. In Scotland she was regularly commissioned for stunning portraits and bespoke murals by astute and discerning private collectors.

Lauren’s love and commitment to her craft is evident in each and every piece she creates. With an eye for nature’s beauty and a penchant for whimsical detail, her works beckon you to look longer and to look deeper. Her romance with the natural world, the trees, the flowers, the land, water and sky and, of course, the animals, is captivating.

Lauren has a playful side. It may be in a frugal sketch, a camouflaged dragonfly or a collage character in an oversized sweater. Whatever it is, it will always be a genuine expression of the Artist’s inner thoughts and musings and it will always be beautiful. It will make you smile.

Lauren’s art brings joy to life. I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by my sister’s abundant and wonderful art and it brightens my day, everyday. She has a knack for capturing majesty, beauty, warmth and fun in everything she does. I am not alone in my ebullient and gushing sentiments, I am just one of her many adoring fans.

Thank you for visiting Lauren’s website. I hope you enjoy looking at her work as much as I do. She doesn’t want me to say this but I have to. Lauren’s work is bloody amazing. She didn’t want me to say this either but…Lauren is bloody amazing. Everybody needs a little (or big) ‘Lauren Weir’ in their life.

With Love,
